Our Verdict 5 Stars

The Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright provides very high quality, fantastically clear images and unsurpassed ease of use. What makes this telescope really stand out is the abundance of smart technology you get with it – SkyAlign Alignment, Solar Sys Align and NexRemote to name but three, all designed to make your life easier and more pleasurable.

You get a lot of extras for the money and a lot of telescope too with the Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright, if you opt to take the plunge with this one then you will not be disappointed. We were hesitant about including it because of the cost, it is not really a beginners telescope but because of its ease of use it is actually suitable for beginners. You can get comfortable with this telescope very quickly and therefore you will be able to advance in experience and knowledge very quickly. Ultimately we believe that this is the best option for the beginner with money to spend, which is why we left it in.

Description of the Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright

Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright XLT GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain 2800mm Telescop

This large aperture Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope has 11″ (279mm) f/10 optics and uses Celestron’s proprietary StarBright XLT high-performance coatings to ensure bright images. For your observing pleasure you will be able to see amazing detail on the surface of Jupiter, Cassini’s Division in the rings of Saturn and resolve details on the surface of Mars. Even Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are within your reach.

The Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright has an ergonomic design for increased comfort, fully computerized dual fork arm altazimuth mount and Proven NexStar computer control technology. For portability it has carry handles and an instrument weight of 65lb. The newly designed tripod has heavy-duty stainless steel legs and a spreader bar for excellent rigidity. Other features on the Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright include periodic error correction (PEC), an autoguider port, and input for 12-volt power.

It has an internal GPS that automatically pinpoints your exact location on earth using orbiting satellites which means that you will not have to manually input the date, time, longitude and latitude. Aligning your telescope is also simplicity itself, just manually point the telescope to three bright celestial objects (you don’t have to know what they are and you can even use the moon) and the new SkyAlign software will then model the night sky and determine the position of every star, planet and celestial object above the horizon. You can then use the remote control to directly access each of the celestial catalogues in the database. The database itself has included over 40,000 celestial objects and it even has an identify feature – ask it to identify Messier objects (for example) and it will show you the 5 nearest Messier objects to your position and let you GOTO them. This is a fabulous way to explore the night sky above you. On top of this with the Celestron CPC 1100 StarBrightthere there is also “Solar Sys Align” which lets you align on the sun or moon for daytime observing and the Hibernate function that means it can maintain its star alignment night after night, perfect if you wish to build yourself a permanent observatory. Using NexRemote you can even control the Celestron CPC 1100 Starbright remotely from your PC or laptop.

This telescope is also at home as a superb visual instrument or, with optional wedge and CCD cameras, as a serious astrophotographer’s tool.

Awesome!
5 out of 5 stars.

“Since I have purchased the CPC 1100 XLT, I have stepped up into the world of observatory-class observation. (I have also been staying up later at night, too!) It is very easy to align. I have mounted my 1.3 Mp CCD onto it and so far I have been able to make some really beautiful videos of the moon’s surface, that has wowed everyone at work. The cloud bands of Jupiter are very apparent. I have purchased a DSLR and adapters, and I am now ready to begin to attack the world of astrophotography. I use it everyday. Even if it is cloudy, I set it up in the garage and think of ways of improving my familiarity of its use. Recently I purchased a tripod trolley this really increased the ease at which I can move it. When I use the CPC 1100, I feel there is nothing I can’t do or see with it. By far the best scope I have ever owned.”
